The basic definition of Global Warming is that the Earth is getting hotter and that’s not a good thing. Each year, from 1998 through 2007, has ranked in the top 25 warmest years on record for the US, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. But, what Global Warming is really about is that we are damaging our Planet in so many different ways and, if we don’t stop the “bleeding,” we will destroy it for future generations.
There are toxic chemicals in our atmosphere that are wreaking havoc with our weather systems, not to mention our bodies, as we breath this stuff in day in, day out. Then, there are our polluted oceans and other natural habitats with so many species threatened with extinction. Add to that our addiction to oil and all the pollutants that come with it… The solution lies in many small things that we can do as individuals, sometimes as simple as picking up a piece of trash on the street or installing CFL light bulbs, to more global changes that require getting our government in gear and raising funds to create impactful programs. Your help can make a difference!

Rainforest Action Network (RAN), dubbed “some of the most savvy environmental agitators in the business” by the Wall Street Journal, uses hard-hitting markets campaigns to align the policies of multinational corporations with widespread public support for environmental protection. We believe that logging ancient forests for copy paper or destroying an endangered ecosystem for a week’s worth of oil is not just destructive, but outdated and unnecessary. Global warming kills forests. Forest destruction hastens global warming. Protecting forests and stopping global warming go hand in hand. Rainforest Action Network website. |
