There’s been so much coverage in the news on both sides, from “experts” all over the world. Is there global warming or (the newest term) “climate change?” Some say yes and some no. Some say yes, but that it has nothing to do with human intervention and that the earth is simply going through its natural cycle. Now we’re hearing about the next “ice age” that’s on its way… Is the sky falling? What are we going to do???
Maybe we could/should focus our attention on something much more simple, that every human being can understand and actually do something about? POLLUTION. Does pollution contribute to global warming or climate change? Who cares? I live in Malibu and the fact is I see polluted beaches and our ocean filth everyday. I go to our office in Santa Monica every morning and clean up the litter that’s piled up in front of our building. I go on vacation and travel to places which were once beautiful and where you could drink the water from streams and now they’re decrepit and smell and are certainly not a place where you’d want to take your children. How about our cities where you can’t even breathe the air and people walk around in surgical masks? Can anyone say Beijing?
No one likes the fact that the polar icecap is melting and our glaciers are disappearing, but what can we do as individuals to fix that problem? I honestly don’t know, but I what do know is that pollution sucks and there is something we can all do to change that!! Don’t waste! Don’t litter and pick up other people’s litter. Turn off the water when you’re brushing your teeth. Teach your child to care for the environment. Recycle! Try to buy products that don’t hurt the environment whenever you’re able.
Maybe we won’t stop global warming, but at least we can make a difference and make our world a better happier place while we’re here.
There! I feel much better.
